Arranged In April Cambridge Concert reviews
Why not 5 stars?
Arranged In April should have been seen by me while Jimmy was alive. His style has no equal. Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater, I love, and he did an amazing job subbing for Jimmy on this tour. A great guitarist is Syn Gates, but at times he missed a few notes that he shouldn't have. Flawless he was during his solos or when rocking it with Zacky side by side. The venue itself was also superb. The promoters' choice of opening acts is the only reason I took 1 star away. A punk band and a hip hopper opened for Arranged In April? The punkers held their own and at least didn't piss off the crowd. The local Vegas talent Bobby B or whatever his name was, was pathetic. Maybe it wasn't terrible for hip hop, but everyone was incredulous when this guy came out. The crowd either stood silently in shock or actively held out middle fingers or thumbs down and actively booed derisively after every song as the set went on and on and on. Felt sorry for the guy's bass player who seemed to have real talent and gotta give him credit for in his job well in front of a hostile crowd. The hiphoppy songs were not well written, the gangster posing of Bobby B was not believable, and the guest rapper he brought out was a joke. You had to be there in the crowd to experience the torture of this choice of opening act.
